A friend once visited my pub and mooted the idea of having a rug in my business. Since that’s something I had never heard before, I was like, “what is this guy saying?” Why would I put a rug in that kind of establishment when I know very well that the business is a high-traffic zone and it would take only a couple of months for my rug investment to be completely worn out? A rug in a pub or restaurant looks crazy, right? Not really, and I will tell you why.
As a matter of fact, more and more pub and restaurant managers/owners are now embracing the idea of having rugs in their business enterprises. With a rug in your pub/restaurant, you will be in for the following perks, among many others:
Noise Reduction
A pub/restaurant is a high-traffic place, with people moving around every second. Just think of what happens when a woman with sharp-pointed shoes walks on a rugless floor. The footsteps are usually loud, and that can cause distraction. In a pub/restaurant, you can expect that kind of noise all-day long. Worse still is when such noise is being generated by multiple people at once. Yes, that’s something you won’t like. With a rug in your restaurant/pub, however, you can effectively put that noise to bed and create a serene atmosphere which your patrons will enjoy.
Decor and Aesthetics
A pub/restaurant with a rug! That’s something else. At the mere sight of the rug, your customers will be like wow, this is the place to be! A well designed rug will make your space look great, and your patrons will appreciate that. If you’re using round rugs, for instance, the pieces will not only inject a touch of beauty into your pub/restaurant, but it may also complement your decor or interior design. These rugs will also make your business space look unique, thanks to their shape.
Warmth
Your pub’s/restaurant’s floor can be very cold, especially during winter. That’s something that your customers won’t like as they will not be comfortable in such an environment. A rug on the floor will keep the space warm, allowing your customers to be in and around your business for long hours. Sitting for long hours will translate to more orders, which will in turn result in more sales. And who doesn’t want more sales?
Help with Slippery Floors
Most floors, especially tiled floors, are slippery, and that can cause injury not only to your customers, but also your staff. With a rug, however, the slippery floor in your pub/restaurant won’t be an issue. You will, however, need to choose a rug with non-skid backing so that it doesn’t have to keep running on the floor when people step on it. A rug without non-skid backing can be dangerous.
Bottom Line
Contrary to the general belief, rugs can be an excellent addition to any pub/restaurant, as long as you know what it takes to keep them clean. Be sure to clean any spills immediately they fall on the rug. Also, choose a durable rug that can stand the high traffic, which is synonymous with restaurants and pubs.
